Tigers Hit The Road For Final Time in 2006, Visit Cornell
October 26, 2006 | Men's Soccer
The Princeton men's soccer team may not be able to win the Ivy League in 2006, but the Tigers can hope to make the same kind of late-season statement they made a year ago.
Step one in that process is Saturday night's game at Cornell beginning at 7 p.m. at Berman Field, the back end of a doubleheader that begins with the Princeton and Cornell women at 4:00.
The Tigers (6-6-3, 1-3-1 Ivy) started 0-2 in the league a year ago before rebounding to finish 3-3-1. Princeton can get back to that same finish with wins over the Big Red Saturday and Ivy co-leader Penn next week at Lourie-Love Field.
Princeton fell to league co-leader Harvard by a 2-1 score at Lourie-Love Field last Saturday. Freshman Devin Muntz scored his team-leading fourth goal of the second early in the second half of that game. Muntz also leads the team with 11 points overall.
Cornell (2-8-3 overall) is currently in a tie with the Tigers at 1-3-1 in the league standings. The Big Red, who lost to Hartwick on Tuesday, have struggled to find the net in 2006 with seven goals through 13 games and two goals in five Ivy games.
Princeton defeated Cornell by a 2-0 score last year at Lourie-Love Field. Matt Care had the game winner for Princeton early in the second half after a scoreless first half.
The Tigers haven't lost to Cornell since the 2002 season.
