Bentley Rallies Past Princeton 4-3

PRINCETON -- Bentley rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Princeton men's hockey team 4-3 on Saturday night at Baker Rink. Senior Kevin Westgarth had a goal and an assist in the loss for the Tigers.
The Tigers outplayed Bentley in the first period, out shooting the Falcons by a 17-9 margin. Princeton took advantage of those shots, jumping out to a 2-0 lead with two power-play goals, the first of six combined between the two teams on the night.
Westgarth opened the scoring at 11:17 of the period when his shot found the back of the net off a rebound in front of the net. Freshman Jody Pederson took the first shot and notched an assist on the goal, as did sophomore Brett Wilson.
Junior Grant Goeckner-Zoeller made it 2-0 with his first score of the season at 17:32 of the period. Westgarth controlled the puck in the corner and fed Goeckner-Zoeller in front, where he scored high on the near side to make the score 2-0. Junior Mike Moore assisted on the goal.
Princeton made the score 3-0 on a power-play goal 5:21 into the second period from senior Darroll Powe. The goal capped an end-to-end tic-tac-toe Tiger rush as Powe scored on a one-timer from the slot. Freshmen Mark Magnowski and Dan Bartlett assisted on the goal.
Bentley jumped on the board at 8:46 of the second period when Tom Dickhudt scored on the power play. Dickhuft circled around the zone with the puck before scoring on a wristshot. Goaltender Ray Jean assisted on the goal.
Bentley made it 3-2 with its second power-play tally of the game with 4:46 left in the period. Marc Menzione scored the goal on a wrist shot and it was set up by Jeff Gumaer.
The Falcons scored the only two goals of the final period to come away with the 4-3 win. Anthony Canzoneri made the score 3-3 with a power-play goal at 10:57 and Dickhudt scored the game winner at 13:25. That goal was the only even-strength goal of the game. Dain Prewitt dumped the puck in the Tiger zone and Dickhudt gained possession behind the net and came in front to score the goal.
Each team scored three power-play goals in the game. Bentley was 3-9 and Princeton was 3-11.
Princeton outshot Bentley 37-29 in the game. Jean made 34 saves for the win, while Princeton senior goaltender B.J. Sklapsky had 25.
