Army Runs Past Princeton in Sprint Football

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Army ran for 474 yards and eight touchdowns in a 54-9 win over the Princeton sprint football team on Friday night at Shea Stadium.
Army (2-1) took a 33-0 lead after the first quarter thanks to touchdown runs by Robert Miner, Stephen Lewis, James Antonides, Tom Russell and Joe Kendall.
Princeton (0-3) scored the only points of the second quarter as Michael Cheng capped a 10-play Tiger drive with a 24-yard field goal. The game went to the half with Army leading 33-3.
Army scored a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter and one in the fourth before the Tigers closed out the scoring with a touchdown late in the game. Princeton's scoring drive went 74 yards on 11 plays and ended with a two-yard touchdown pass from Alex Kandabarow to Lon Johnson. The extra point attempt failed.
Kandabarow finished 25 for 53 through the air for 273 yards and a touchdown. Johnson was his favorite receiver in the game, catching 12 passes for 141 yards.
Army outgained Princeton 474-284 for the game, with all 474 yards coming on the ground.
Princeton returns to action next Friday night at Cornell. The two teams played last weekend with Cornell claiming a 50-15 win at Princeton Stadium.
