PRINCETON - The Princeton wrestling team has competed all over the place during the 2005-06 season. One location not on the list is the friendly confines of Dillon Gym, where Princeton will finally look to defend in its home debut tonight at 7 p.m. against the Columbia Lions. The match opens a highly challenging weekend for the improving Tiger squad.
Princeton (6-6), which went 1-2 on the road last weekend, will welcome a Columbia squad tonight that has put up a number of strong results already this season, including close wins over West Virginia and Rider. With an injury-plagued lineup that was missing several starters, Columbia fell last weekend to Cornell 38-0, but the Lions will be looking to get back to .500 in the Ivy League against Princeton.
The Tigers have other ideas in mind and will look to get back above the .500 mark against the Lions. It's a senior charge leading the way, including a pair of underclassmen who are looking to build on success, either recent or last year.
At 141 pounds, Eric Marcotulli won a major decision last weekend at Brown against former New Jersey state champion Mark Savino. One weight class above, Iannuzzi is hoping to build on a successful performance last season at Columbia, when he claimed a first-period pin.
Princeton will wrestle Cornell Saturday at 2 p.m. and then will compete at Rider at 7 p.m.
