Tigers Drop 6-1 Match to Santa Clara in Men's Tennis

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Princeton men's tennis team saw its intersession trip to California end with a 6-1 loss to Santa Clara in a match played Saturday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Tigers (0-4) won the doubles point thanks to victories at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles but were unable to win a singles match against the Broncos, who improved to 5-3 on the season.
Princeton clinched the doubles point at No. 2, where Alex Krueger-Wyman and Ted Mabrey won an 8-6 match against Kevin McQuaid and Blane Shields. The Tigers also won at No. 3, where Darius Craton and Shannon Morales won by an 8-4 score.
In singles, at No. 4, Jonathan Leslie of Princeton took the first set to a tiebreak against Bobby Rasmussen, but Rasmussen won that breaker 7-2 and took the second set 6-1.
Two freshmen played singles for Princeton Saturday. Krueger-Wyman played at No. 3, falling 6-2 and 6-4 to McQuaid, and Alex Vuckovic played at No. 6, falling to A.J. Kerin 6-3 and 6-2.
