Men's Tennis Concludes Spring Break Trip with 7-0 Loss to San Diego State

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - The Princeton men's tennis team concluded its Spring Break trip to California with a 7-0 loss to 72nd-ranked San Diego State in a match played at the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club Thursday afternoon.
The doubles matches were tight throughout the lineup, but the Aztecs clinched at No. 2 when Markus Dickhardt and Stephan Timu outlasted Ted Mabrey and Alex Krueger-Wyman by a 9-7 score.
The Aztecs clinched the match overall when Anthony Gomez won two close sets against Shannon Morales at No. 5, 6-4 and 6-4.
Princeton took two of the six singles matches to a third set. At No. 4, Hans Plukas won the second set 6-3 against Timu before the San Diego State player won a proset 10-7. At No. 6, Alex Vuckovic split two tight sets with Robert Sabo, winning the second 6-4, before Sabo won a 10-7 proset to win the match.
The Tigers (4-8) played three nationally-ranked teams in their four matches in California. Princeton returns home to face Penn in its Ivy League opener next weekend.
