The Princeton men's tennis team used strength at the bottom of its singles lineup to help defeat Stony Brook on Saturday at Jadwin Gym, 5-2, and improve to 3-4 on the spring season.
The Tigers won in straight sets at every position from No. 3 through No. 6 in singles. The most impressive wins came at No. 4, where freshman Alex Vuckovic defeated Jean Francois Robitaille 6-1 and 6-2, and at No. 6, where sophomore Christian Husby also lost just three games in a win over Matt Jacobson.
Vuckovic was also a key factor in Princeton picking up the doubles point. He and fellow freshman Alex Krueger-Wyman toughed out a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles over Jacobson and Michael Crooks after the teams had split at Nos. 1 and 2.
Hans Plukas won at No. 3 singles for Princeton, defeating Nihal Advani 6-2 and 6-4, while Andrew Husby won a first-set tiebreak on the way to a win over Youssef Fassi-Fehri at No. 5 singles.
The Tigers host Army at Jadwin Gym Friday afternoon.
