NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Five Princeton athletes won their respective events, including strong performances in the distance events from Suzanne Andrews and Jolee van Leuven, as the Tigers finished with 55 points in a tri-meet with Yale and Penn at Yale's DeWitt Cuyler Track Saturday.
Andrews was the winner in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event, running an impressive 10:37.70 to win the race by more than 19 seconds. In the general 3,000 meters, van Leuven ran 9:50.94 to outpace Penn's Stacey Kim for the victory.
The Tigers also got two more victories on the track. In the 800 meters, Jordan Wagenseller continued an outstanding spring season, running the two laps in a time of 2:13.18. In the 100-meter hurdles, senior Annie Santi ran a 15.40 to edge Penn's Camille Richard and earn five points.
Princeton also won the high jump when sophomore Abby Campbell had the first clearance at 5 feet, 3 inches (1.60 meters).
A power-packed 1,500-meter race featured three of the league's and the East's top distance runners. Yale's Lindsay Donaldson used the home track advantage to win in 4:25.63, just ahead of Princeton's Cack Ferrell (4:26.59) and Catha Mullen (4:27.87).
Yale won the scored tri-meet with 85 points, while Penn was second with 63 points.
