The cliché says the Princeton women's lacrosse team controls its own destiny when it comes to the Ivy League's automatic NCAA tournament berth and a league title. The real truth says that with three league games left, the Tigers aren't thinking about anything except their next game.
That game comes Wednesday night, when No. 10 Princeton hosts 20th-ranked Penn under the lights at Class of 1952 Stadium (7 p.m.). The Tigers will be looking for their 13th straight win over the Quakers.
With a win, Princeton (7-4, 4-0 Ivy) can eliminate Penn (8-5, 3-2 Ivy) from the league title race. With a Penn win, that race could include two 4-1 teams and two 4-2 teams heading into its final two weekends.
The Tigers won their fifth straight game this past Saturday, using another strong second half to pull away from Harvard, 14-8. Kathleen Miller and Ashley Amo each had four goals in that game.
Penn dropped an 8-4 decision at Dartmouth at the same time Saturday afternoon, making the Quakers and the Big Green both 3-2 in the league. Dartmouth visits Harvard Wednesday evening.
No. 20 Penn is the eighth Princeton opponent in 12 games this year that will be ranked in the IWLCA poll at the time of the game. The Tigers will play a ninth ranked team Saturday when No. 14 Dartmouth visits Class of 1952 Stadium. Today's Note of the Day
Berth Dates -- Princeton needs to win two of its final three Ivy League games to clinch the league's automatic NCAA tournament berth.
