The Princeton women's lacrosse team needs one win in its final two Ivy League games to clinch the league's automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. The first chance comes Saturday when Dartmouth visits Class of 1952 Stadium for a 3 p.m. game.
Both the 4-2 Big Green and 4-1 Cornell join Princeton as teams still in the hunt for at least a share of the Ivy title. Dartmouth needs a win Saturday and some help. There still is a possibility of a three-way tie for the title at 5-2.
In any case, Saturday's game features the two dominant programs in recent Ivy history. Either Princeton or Dartmouth, or both teams, have won the Ivy championship in each of the past 13 seasons. The last year neither team was the league champion was 1992.
As usual, both teams have hit a high gear heading into the final weeks of the regular season. No. 10 Princeton has now won six straight since beginning the year 2-4; No. 14 Dartmouth has won five of its last six after starting 3-3.
Saturday's game can be heard live on the internet at GoPrincetonTigers.com with Ed Benkin on the call.
