CAMDEN, N.J. - Coming off a victory over former No. 1 Radcliffe, the Princeton women's lightweight crew entered Sunday's Eastern Sprints with plenty of momentum. It didn't follow Princeton into the grand final, as the Tigers placed fourth behind three teams they had already defeated during the season.
The varsity eight finished in 7:30.16, behind first-place Wisconsin (7:14.00), second-place Radcliffe (7:20.79) and third-place Georgetown (7:23.38). Princeton topped Wisconsin earlier in the Knecht Cup, and the Tigers topped Radcliffe and Georgetown during April races at Lake Carnegie.
Princeton claimed two gold medals on the day. Paul Rassam's crew earned wins in the novice eight (7:37.02) and the varsity four (8:21.01). Both topped two of the top programs in the sport, as the novice defeated Wisconsin and the fours defeated Radcliffe.
While those boats left Sunday feeling good, the varsity eight left hungry for a third race on Cooper River. Princeton will likely see its top rivals during the first weekend of June for the IRA national championship.
