Princeton Men's Golf Wraps Up Day One at NCAA Central Regional

CHARDON, Ohio - Thursday was a rough day for the Princeton men's golf team as the Tigers started the NCAA Central Regional in Chardon, Ohio. The Tigers finished in a tie for 26th place after one round at Sand Ridge Golf Club, standing 40 shots over par. Oklahoma State leads the tournament at four-under. John Sawin is Princeton's top individual at +6 while Chris Wilson of Northwestern leads all individuals at -4 on the par-71 course.
Sawin birdied two holes during the first round but had eight bogeys and stands tied for 103rd. Andrew Maliniak stands at +10, while Jason Gerken dropped one birdie and is at +11. Jesse Dixon birdied the 18th hole at the midpoint of his day after the Tigers started on the 10th tee, finishing 12-over. Brent Herlihy finished Thursday 18-over.
The tournament continues Friday and wraps up Saturday. The top 10 teams advance to next weekend's NCAA Championship in Oregon. Oklahoma currently holds the last automatic spot at 8-over.
