Both Princeton and Maryland are headed to the NCAA tournament in women's lacrosse. And after Wednesday night's meeting between the teams, both the Tigers and Terps will head into the tournament coming off a tournament-type game.
For the 13th straight season, Princeton will meet Maryland in the final week of the regular season. Game time Wednesday on Senior Night at Class of 1952 Stadium is 7 p.m.
Each of the last two regular-season games between Princeton and Maryland have gone to overtime, including a thrilling 13-12 Maryland victory in College Park last season that went to a second sudden-victory period after overtime and a first sudden-victory period couldn't decide it.
Princeton would reverse its fortunes just eight days later, however, defeating the Terps by a 16-8 score in an NCAA tournament first round game at Class of 1952 Stadium. The Tigers have now won four of their last five against Maryland since the beginning of the 2002 season.
Both the No. 14 Tigers, who have earned the Ivy League's automatic berth, and the No. 6 Terrapins, a certain at-large choice, will hear their NCAA tournament fate on Mon., May 8, at 8 p.m. in a live selection show on CSTV. First-round games are at campus sites on Sun., May 14.
