PHILADELPHIA - Jessica Kloss was a Heps champion for Princeton in the pole vault on the first day of the 2006 Outdoor Ivy League Heptagonals at Penn's Franklin Field Saturday afternoon.
As a team, Princeton was in seventh place with 18 points with six of 23 events complete after Saturday.
Kloss jumped an impressive 12 feet, 5 1/2 inches to win the pole vault for the Tigers. She was the only athlete at Saturday's meet to clear better than 12 feet.
Most of Saturday's action consisted of qualifying heats for Sunday finals, and the Tigers will have plenty of chances after those heats. In the 1,500, twin sisters Catha and Caroline Mullen were the top two runners in their heat and qualified for the finals. In the 800 meters, Jordan Wagenseller will go for another victory after qualifying on Saturday.
Senior Cack Ferrell should compete in both the 3,000 meters and the 5,000 meters on Sunday.
