The 2006 NCAA Fayetteville baseball regional will be televised live on Cox Sports Television in parts of Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Florida. Additionally, highlights of the action will be shown on News 12 New Jersey. Below is the Cox Sports Television release.
(New Orleans, La) Cox Sports Television was awarded the exclusive television rights to the 2006 NCAA regional baseball tournament in Fayetteville this weekend. The double elimination tournament features host and number 2 seed Arkansas, top seed Oklahoma State, third seed Oral Roberts and fourth seed Princeton. CST will air all games live from Baum Stadium on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
"The road to Omaha starts in Fayetteville for these teams and their fans and we are excited to be bringing all the action live to our viewers throughout the South" stated CST head Rod Mickler.
In addition to the CST network distribution throughout Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and North Florida, Cox Communications systems in Oklahoma City and Tulsa will have all game available on local channel 7 in OKC and channel 3 or 78 in Tulsa. Cox Communications Arkansas customers who are digital subscribers can watch the games on CST channel 119. For those customers not subscribing to digital service, the games will be found on channel 77 in Fayetteville/Springdale/Rogers/Bentonville, channel 72 in Siloam Springs, Channel 18 in Fort Smith/Van Buren, Channel 76 in Harrison and Channel 73 in Berryville.
The Fayetteville regional is one of sixteen regional tournaments being played around the country this weekend. The winners of these tournaments will meet the following weekend in eight Super Regional tournaments with those winners moving on to Omaha for the College Baseball World Series. The Fayetteville regional winner will take on the winner of the Clemson regional.
Traveling to Fayetteville this weekend will be Oklahoma State Cowboys (39-17), Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (38-14) and Princeton Tigers (19-24-1). They will be hosted by Arkansas (38-19), who is hosting a regional for the 3rd time (1999, 2004 and 2006).
The tournament is a double elimination affair with Number 1 seed Oklahoma State taking on #4 Princeton in game 1 beginning at 2 PM Friday, followed by #2 Seed Arkansas matching up with #3 Oral Roberts in game two at 7:00 PM. Saturday will showcase a Doubleheader beginning at 2 PM with a loser's bracket game (game 3) followed by the winner's bracket game at 7:00 PM (game 4). Sunday will also include a doubleheader with game four loser taking on the game three winner (game 5) at 2 PM and then at 7:00 P.M. winners of Game 4 and 5 meet (game 6). If necessary, a game 7 will take place on Monday at 7 PM. (all times are Central). Calling all of the NCAA Regional action for CST will be Lyn Rollins and Mike Nail.
