Ferrell Qualifies For 5,000-Meter Final at NCAA Championship Meet

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Princeton senior Cack Ferrell qualified for Friday's final by finishing fourth in her heat Wednesday night in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex.
Ferrell's qualifying time was 16:11.62 over the 12 1/2 laps in Sacramento. Her time was eighth-best among the 16 athletes in total who qualified for the Friday final, which takes place at 10 p.m. ET.
Providence's Mary Cullen had the top qualifying time on Wednesday, finishing the race in 16:05.12. All 16 qualifiers finished within an 18-second span of each other.
Princeton also had another participant on Wednesday, as senior Suzanne Andrews ran in the 3,000-meter steeplechase prelims. Andrews finished 12th in her heat and 22nd overall in a time of 10:30.05.
On the men's side, senior Frank Macreery will run in the 10,000-meter final on Thursday night.
