September 17, 2006 | Women's Tennis
The Princeton women's tennis team competed against four other schools in both singles and doubles this weekend at the Princeton Invitational, a hidden-dual event in which no team scores were kept. Princeton played both singles and doubles against Ohio State, Yale, Rutgers and Buffalo.
On Sunday at the Lenz Tennis Center, the Tigers played singles against Yale and Ohio State. Sophomore Kelly Stewart earned a win for Princeton against the Bulldogs, defeating Christine Alford, while senior Joanna Roth defeated Ohio State's Ciara Finucane in an 8-5 pro set for a Tiger win.
The Tigers won five of six matches against Rutgers on Saturday, including straight-set victories from freshmen Blakely Ashley and Sarah Huah. Earlier, Princeton had split eight singles matches with Buffalo, with Huah and Ashley earning wins along with Darcy Robertson and Stewart.
Doubles took place Friday inside at Jadwin Gym. The Tigers took two of the three matches against Ohio State, Rutgers and Yale, with the team of Huah and Ashley winning twice.
Princeton will play at Penn's Cissie Leary Invitational next weekend in Philadelphia.
