September 28, 2006 | Men's Ice Hockey
PRINCETON -- The Princeton men's hockey team will open its season on Friday, October 27 against Bentley at the first annual “Hockey For Hope” charity hockey game. The game will be held at the Richard J. Codey Arena at South Mountain in West Orange, N.J., with proceeds from the game benefitting the “Cheer Me Up” Foundation.
New Jersey Devils Youth Hockey Club alumni Joe Cucci and Patrick Percella from Bentley, and Keith Shattenkirk, and Zane Kalemba of Princeton will be among the local players in action at the game.
The Cheer Me Up Foundation, founded in 1994, is a non-profit organization that financially aids sick and underprivileged children. The mission of the Foundation is to afford children of the community the right to experience the joy of being a child, no matter what their hardships are. This is the first annual hockey fundraiser for the Foundation, which holds a number of other fund raising events throughout the year, as well as hosting annual holiday parties for its beneficiaries.
The event will feature former New Jersey Devil defenseman Ken Daneyko and a number of other sports celebrities. The event will also include a $1,000 hockey puck shot, giveaways, and entertainment for the entire family.
General admission seats are $10 and priority seating is $15. These tickets can be obtained on ticketweb.com by clicking here.
