Select Tiger Fencers Compete in North American Cup

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Six current and former Princeton fencers competed individually basis Jan. 12-15 in Columbus, Ohio, in a North American Cup event, hosted by U.S. Fencing. Highlights included Ben Solomon '06 tying for third in men's epee and Jasjit Bhinder also tying for third among juniors in women's epee.
Competing with Solomon in the men's epee was junior Tommi Hurme, who placed 21st out of 265 bouters.
In the women's epee, 2006 graduate Kira Hohensee placed 25th of 146 competitors while Bhinder, whose third-place finish was in the junior draw, took 56th. Freshman Chandler Clay took 100th overall and 99th among juniors.
Freshman Jocelyn Svengsouk also competed, finishing 102nd overall and 92nd among juniors in the women's foil.
The Tigers will resume team competition Feb. 11 at the Ivy South competition in Philadelphia, the first of two weekends that will decide the Ivy League championship.
