Women's Tennis Falls to Fifth-Ranked Miami in Season Opener, 6-1

The Princeton women's tennis team got a singles win from freshman Blakely Ashley but fell by a 6-1 score to No. 5-ranked Miami Saturday afternoon in the Tigers' spring opener.
Ashley, playing at No. 5 singles, defeated Claudia Wasilewski in straight sets by scores of 6-3 and 7-5. She was one of three freshmen playing their first dual match for the Tigers.
The Tigers also got a victory at No. 2 doubles from the team of junior Ivana King and freshman Melissa Saiontz, who defeated Wasilewski and Romy Farah by an 8-5 score, taking an early 5-2 lead and then recovering after Miami tied the match.
Saiontz, a Miami native, played No. 1 singles for the Tigers against the nation's No. 1 player in Audra Cohen. Laura Vallverdu, ranked No. 6 nationally, defeated Princeton's Darcy Robertson at No. 2 singles.
King played well at No. 3 singles for Princeton but fell 6-4 and 6-4 to Caren Seenauth.
The Tigers play at Florida International Sunday afternoon.
