Sophomore Melissa Saiontz won her Round of 16 match before falling to the No. 2 seed in the quarterfinals as Princeton play concluded at the Wilson/ITA East Regional women's tennis championships Monday at Old Dominion University.
Saiontz, the No. 7 seed, matched up against Tatiana Uvarova in the quarters and took charge in the first set, winning 6-2. But the No. 2 seed would win a tough second set 6-4 and then win the match by taking the third set by a score of 6-2.
The Princeton sophomore began the day with a morning match against another seeded player in No. 26 Charlie Tansill of Penn. After winning the first set in a tiebreak, the Princeton sophomore coasted in the second set 6-1 to advance to the round of eight.
