Princeton Blanked 4-0 at Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. -- Quinnipiac scored once in the second period and three times in the third to blank the Princeton men's hockey team 4-0 on Saturday night at the TD Banknorth Sports Center. Princeton falls to 3-3 overall with the loss.
Quinnipiac controlled play from the onset, outshooting Princeton 16-5 in the opening period, but was unable to break through on Princeton sophomore netminder Zane Kalemba until 5:12 of the second when Dan Travis scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal from Brandon Wong and Jean-Marc Beaudoin.
The Bobcats extended their lead with three goals in the third period. Quinnipiac made the score 2-0 when Dan Henningson scored on a backhander on the rebound of a Isak Tranvik shot and made it 3-0 later in the period on the power play when Brandon Wong redirected a Ben Nelson pass into the Princeton net. Beaudoin added the final goal shorthanded into an empty net as the Tigers pulled Kalemba late looking to get on the scoreboard.
Kalemba finished the night with 31 saves, while Quinnipiac goaltender Bud Fisher made 25. Quinnipiac outshot Princeton 35-25. Junior Lee Jubinville, sophomore Cam MacIntyre and freshman Mike Kramer each had three shots on goal for Princeton in the loss.
The loss drops Princeton to 3-3 overall. Princeton and Quinnipiac continue their three-game series on Wednesday night at baker Rink at 7 p.m.
