Dartmouth Hands Tigers 1-0 Men's Soccer Loss In Season Finale
November 17, 2007 | Men's Soccer
Dartmouth's Craig Henderson scored on a rebound of a Dani Rothenberg shot with 15 minutes left in the first half to give the Big Green a 1-0 men's soccer victory over Princeton in the Tigers' regular-season finale Saturday afternoon in Hanover.
Dartmouth's Daniel Keat had an initial cross into the Princeton box, where Rothenberg's shot was saved by Princeton goalie Joe Walter. But Henderson was there for the rebound, his sixth goal of the year, to give his team the lead.
Princeton (5-10-2, 3-4 Ivy) had a strong second half, outshooting the Big Green (11-4-2, 5-1-1 Ivy) 7-3 and forcing five corner kicks, but could not get the equalizer. The Tigers had a great opportunity in the 69th minute after Kyle McHugh's initial shot was saved by Dartmouth goalie Sean Milligan, but the loose-ball on the rebound was eventually knocked away by the defense.
The Tigers would have a final chance in the last 30 seconds of the game, but freshman Brandon Busch's opportunity was again knocked away by Milligan.
Princeton goalie Joe Walter had eight saves, including seven in the first half as the Tigers were outshot 16-8 for the game and 13-1 in the first 45 minutes.
McHugh, playing in his final game as a Tiger, had three of Princeton's eight shots. He finished the season with a team-high seven goals.
