McHugh Earns Unanimous First-Team All-Ivy Honors In Men's Soccer
November 21, 2007 | Men's Soccer
Princeton senior midfielder Kyle McHugh has been honored as one of just three unanimous first-team All-Ivy selections in men's soccer in a vote of the league's head coaches announced Tuesday.
McHugh, a co-captain for the Tigers in 2007, scored a team-high seven goals, including three game winners, and led a Princeton team that improved immensely during the season. The Baldwin, Md., native helped Princeton finish 5-4-2 in its last 11 games after an 0-6 start to the year.
McHugh joined the Ivy Player of the Year, Brown defender Matt Britner, and the league's leading scorer, Harvard's Andre Akpan, as the only unanimous first-team All-Ivy choices.
Two other Tigers earned honorable mention All-Ivy honors in 2007. Midfielder Devin Muntz, a sophomore, had three assists while starting every game but one and finished third on the team behind McHugh and Brandon Busch with 27 shots. Matt Care, a junior, played a central defensive position and started 16 games. Care had spent his first two seasons at Princeton playing midfield.
Princeton finished 3-4-0 in Ivy League play and 5-10-2 overall in 2007.
