This Week's Storylines
Back in Action
Princeton returns from a 20-day break during the holiday games for non-conference games at Minnesota State and Nebraska-Omaha. The trip is Princeton's first to Minnesota in four seasons and its first to Nebraska in 10 seasons.
Last Time Out
It's been three weeks, but the last time Princeton played, it was swept in a weekend series at home by sixth-ranked Notre Dame. The Tigers dropped a close 4-2 decision in the series opener, but then fell 7-0 in the second game on Saturday.
This Weekend's Opponents
The Series with Minnesota State
Princeton and Minnesota State meet for the second time in on Friday night in Mankato. The Tigers and Mavericks first met one year ago in Princeton with the Tigers taking a 4-3 win.
Recap of Last Year's Game
After falling behind 1-0 in the first period, Cam MacIntyre, Dan Bartlett and Brett Wilson scored consecutive goals to give Princeton a 3-1 lead after two periods. Minnesota State evened the score with two goals in the third period, but MacIntyre's second goal of the game in the final minute gave Princeton a 4-3 win. Wilson had a goal and three assists in the Princeton win.
Scouting the Mavericks
Minnesota State is 7-7-3 overall and 3-6-3 in the WCHA. The Mavericks had a six-game unbeaten streak snapped in their last game, which came on Dec. 18 at Nebraska-Omaha. The team was 4-0-2 in its previous six games. Princeton and Minnesota State have faced no common opponents.
Princeton vs. the WCHA
Princeton is 6-24 all-time against WCHA members. The Tigers have won their last two games against the WCHA, defeating Minnesota State last season and Denver in December of 2006. Princeton is 3-16 on the road against WCHA teams.
The Series with Nebraska-Omaha
Princeton and Nebraska-Omaha have met three times with the Tigers taking all three meetings. Princeton won the first two meetings by scores of 5-2 and 5-3 in the fall of 1997 in Omaha, and then won 3-2 in overtime last winter in Princeton.
Recap of Last Year's Game
Princeton never trailed in a 3-2 overtime win over Nebraska-Omaha last December. Landis Stankievech gave Princeton a 1-0 lead in the first period, then Kevin kaiser made it 2-1 Princeton with a goal in the second. UNO tied the game late in the third period, but Lee Jubinville scored 43 seconds into overtime to hand Princeton a 3-2 win.
Scouting the Mavericks
Nebraska-Omaha is 7-8-3 overall and 4-7-3 in the CCHA. The Mavericks are 2-1-2 in their last five games and topped Union and Minnesota State in their last two outings. Princeton and UNO have shared two common opponents. Both teams were swept by Notre Dame, while Princeton topped Union and UNO split a two-game set at Union.
Princeton vs. the CCHA
Princeton is 9-24-1 all-time against CCHA teams and is 4-9-1 against those opponents in games played on the road. Princeton last played a CCHA team in early December when it was swept by Notre Dame.
Non-League Opponent
Princeton's two games this weekend are its third and fourth this season against non-league teams. Princeton has played four non-league games, but two of those came against league opponents, Yale and Quinnipiac. Princeton split those games. Last year Princeton was 3-3-1 against non-league foes and was 3-4 a season earlier.
Individual Notes
Off-Ice Honor
Senior Landis Stankievech was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship. The senior was one of three Princetonians to win a Rhodes Scholarship and he will study at Oxford next year. Twenty Princeton athletes have won Rhodes Scholarships, including Mike Spence, a hockey player and recent Nobel Prize for Economics winner, and Bill Bradley, a basketball player and politician.
In the 50s
Brett Wilson and Lee Jubinville each recently joined Princeton's 50-point club. Wilson now has 56 points to his credit and leads active Tigers in goals, assists and points. Jubinville surpassed 50 points in Princeton's win over Union and ranks second to Wilson in all three categories.
Point Leader
Cam MacIntyre has 14 points in 10 games this year to lead Princeton in scoring. He was recently selected to InsideCollegeHockey.com's Mid-Season All-League team.
Goals From 15 Scorers
Both Erik Pridham and Taylor Fedun scored their first goals of the season in Princeton's 4-2 loss to Notre Dame. Through 12 games this year, 15 different Tigers have found the back of the net. Last year, Princeton got goals from 20 different skaters over the 34-game schedule.
Pridham's Goal
Erik Pridham gave Princeton a 1-0 lead in the team's first game against Notre Dame. The goal was the first for Pridham since scoring at Notre Dame in October of 2005.
Fedun's Goal
Taylor Fedun scored his first collegiate goal in Princeton's first game against Notre Dame. The freshman has four points to lead Princeton freshmen in scoring.
Balanced Effort
With Erik Pridham's goal against Notre Dame, 21 of Princeton's 22 skaters now have points this season.
At Least One for Everyone
Every skater in the Tiger lineup has recorded at least one point in their careers. All six of Princeton's freshman skaters have tallied at least one point this season. Only goaltenders Alan Reynolds and Thomas Sychterz do not have points in their careers. Sophomore netminder Zane Kalemba has two career assists to his credit.

Above .500
After starting last season 1-6-2, the Tigers finished out the season 14-10-1. With a 5-7 record this season, the Tigers are 19-17-1 over the last 37 games.
Early Jump
Princeton came out strong for both games in its Rensselaer/Union weekend, skating to 2-0 leads in the first periods of both games. Princeton is now 4-2 in games when it scores the first goal, and 1-5 in games when the opponent does.

Princeton's home record this season is 1-6, while it record away from home is 4-1.
Youth Movement
Princeton's freshman and sophomore classes represent 64% of the team. Princeton's two largest classes are the sophomore class of nine and the freshman class of seven. Princeton smallest class is the juniors, of which there are four. Princeton's freshman, sophomore and junior classes have contributed 84% of the team's scoring this season.
On the Horizon
Princeton returns home next weekend to host Ivy and ECACH rivals Dartmouth and Harvard next weekend at Hobey Baker Rink. The game against Dartmouth will be televised live on ESPNU and feature Skate with the Tigers following the game.
