Princeton Falls to Minnesota State 6-1
December 28, 2007 | Men's Ice Hockey
MANKATO, Minn. -- Minnesota State scored a pair of goals in each period to skate to a 6-1 win over the Princeton men's hockey team on Friday night at the Alltel Center. Sophomore Cam MacIntyre scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season in the loss for Princeton.
The Mavericks opened the scoring 6:05 into the first period when Kael Mouillierat scored on a breakaway. Princeton appeared to even the score 40 seconds later when freshman Kevin Lohry scored on a rebound, but the goal was later disallowed following a video replay as the net had come off its moorings. Minnesota State made the score 2-0 at 10:47 of the period when Joel Hanson scored off a faceoff, that Trevor Bruess won and quickly fed Hanson on the far side.
MacIntyre cut the lead in half for Princeton at 8:00 of the second period when he scored from the right side through traffic. His goal was assisted by juniors Lee Jubinville and Brett Wilson as Princeton cut the lead to one goal.
That however was as close as Princeton would get as Minnesota State added two goals late in the period while skating four aside. The Mavericks then added two more goals late in the third period to seal the win.
Sophomore goaltender Zane Kalemba made 28 saves in the loss, while Maverick goaltender Mike Zacharias stopped 18 shots for the win. Princeton is now 5-8 on the season and continues its weekend on Sunday night at Nebraska-Omaha.
