#6 Notre Dame Blanks Princeton 7-0

PRINCETON -- Dan Kissel scored two goals and added two assists as sixth-ranked Notre Dame blanked the Princeton men's hockey team 7-0 on Saturday night at Hobey Baker Rink. Notre Dame scored twice in the first period to jump to an early lead in the win.
The Fighting Irish completed a two-game sweep of Princeton with the win. Dan VeNard starting the scoring for Notre Dame when he scored on the power-play at 10:05. Kissel made it 2-0 at 13:18 when he one-timed a Christian Hanson pass from behind the net.
Kissel's second goal came shorthanded on a breakaway at 7:08 and was the first of a four-goal second period. Hanson, Garrett Regan and VeNard also scored in the second period, and Evan Rankin added a goal in the third.
Irish goaltender Brad Phillips made 24 saves for the shutout while freshman Alan Reynolds made 11 saves in 32:48 for the Tigers. Junior Thomas Sychterz made 10 saves in the remaining 27:12.
Juniors Brett Wilson and Lee Jubinville, along with sophomore Mark Magnowski, had three shots on goal for Princeton.
The Tigers are now 5-7-0 overall and enter the holiday break. The Tigers are off for 20 days before returning to action on Dec. 28 at Minnesota State.
