The Princeton men's tennis team got singles and doubles wins from both senior Ted Mabrey and sophomore Peter Capkovic on the way to an impressive 6-1 victory over Central Florida in the spring season opener Sunday at the Jadwin Gym tennis courts.
Mabrey, in a new spot for the Tigers at No. 6 singles, won a key match over Jimmy Roesch by scores of 6-4 and 6-4. Capkovic, in his first dual match for the Tigers, defeated Ben Soltane in three sets at No. 1.
Capkovic joined sophomore Alex Vuckovic to win at No. 2 doubles, while Mabrey joined junior Mark Gober at No. 3 doubles to win by the same 8-2 score and clinch the doubles point for the Tigers.
The Golden Knights (2-2) had earlier defeated 51st-ranked Penn in Philadelphia by a 4-3 score Friday afternoon.
Freshman George Carpeni had the most impressive singles win for the Tigers, losing just three games in a straight-set win over Danny Colon at No. 5. Senior Sratha Saengsuwarn also won in straight sets at No. 2 singles over Sinan Sudas.
UCF's singles win came at No. 4, where Johan Beigart defeated Princeton freshman Charlie Brosens in three sets.
