Men's Tennis Falls to UC Irvine in Spring Trip Opener, 4-3

The No. 75 UC Irvine men's tennis team won the final match of a seesaw affair, a three-set win by Aaron Yovan at No. 1 singles, to earn a 4-3 victory over No. 64 Princeton in the first match of the Tigers' spring trip Sunday afternoon in Southern California.
Yovan lost the first set to Peter Capkovic but came back to win the final two sets by scores of 6-3 and 6-4 to clinch the team match for the Anteaters (8-8).
Princeton (6-2) lost the doubles point but came back to lead 3-2 after the first four singles matches. Sratha Saengsuwarn lost just four games in a straight-set win over UCI's Victor Lamm at No. 2, while Jonathan Leslie's comeback victory at No. 6 tied the team match at 2-2. The Tigers then took the lead when freshman Charlie Brosens completed a 6-2, 6-4 win over UCI's Zac Tsai at No. 5.
Sophomore Alex Vuckovic lost a tough 7-6, 6-4 decision to Shimpei Suzuki at No. 4 that squared the team match at 3-3.
The doubles matches were all close, with both Saengsuwarn and Capkovic at No. 1 and Leslie and Mark Gober at No. 3 falling by identical 8-6 scores.
The Tigers will play 63rd-ranked Utah on Tuesday afternoon in San Diego.
