Men's Tennis Defeats No. 65 Utah, 5-2, in San Diego
March 21, 2007 | Men's Tennis
Princeton won three singles matches in three sets, including a come-from-behind victory by Alex Vuckovic at No. 4, on the way to a 5-2 victory over No. 65 Utah in a men's tennis match played in San Diego Tuesday afternoon.
The 64th-ranked Tigers (7-2) got straight-set wins in singles from No. 3 George Carpeni and No. 5 Charlie Brosens, but the match was tight after Utah had won the doubles point and at No. 6 singles.
At No. 1, Peter Capkovic defeated 51st-ranked Zach Ganger 6-2 in the third set to give Princeton a key victory. Sratha Saengsuwarn then continued his strong spring with a three-set win over Miron Mann at No. 2, winning the final set 7-5.
Vuckovic lost the first set 6-4 to Othman Zerouali-Ouariti but came back to win the key second set in a tiebreak and then the third set by a 6-4 score.
The Tigers play San Diego State Wednesday.
