Women's Golf Takes Fourth at South Florida's Waterlefe Invite

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Behind top-10 finishes from sophomore Susannah Aboff and senior Sharla Cloutier, the Princeton women's golf team finished fourth at the 14-team Waterlefe Invitational hosted by the University of South Florida at the Waterlefe Golf and River Club in Bradenton, Fla.
The Tigers were second after the first two rounds played Monday, but Coastal Carolina and South Florida shaved strokes off their second-round scores to pass Princeton. Maryland won the tournament by a single stroke over Coastal Carolina, which was only two strokes ahead of South Florida. Princeton finished nine shots behind USF and 13 shots off the lead.
Aboff (72-77-79-228) placed fourth at +12 as Coastal Carolina's Araceli Felgueroso won the tournament at even par, nine shots ahead of Tiffany Prats from the University of Miami. Cloutier (79-75-77-231) finished tied for eighth at +17.
Freshman Michelle Grilli (79-78-78-235) tied for 15th at +21, while junior Annika Welander (85-78-84-247) placed 44th at +33. Sophomore Marlowe Boukis (86-81-81-248) tied for 47th at +34 to complete Princeton's scorers.
Competing individually, Princeton senior Alexis Etow (84-79-83-246) tied for 41st at +32 and senior Caitlin Sullivan (82-88-87-257) finished 62nd at +43.
After Maryland, Coastal Carolina, South Florida and Princeton in the team standings were Florida International, East Carolina, Daytona Beach Community College, the University of Miami, Cincinnati, Southern Mississippi, Mercer, Georgetown, James Madison and St. John's.
The Tigers will remain in Florida for their spring break week to compete in a Friday-Saturday invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati in Crystal River, Fla.
