Women's Golf to Compete in Cincinnati Spring Invitational in Florida
March 21, 2007 | Women's Golf
CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. -- The Princeton women's golf team will compete in the second of two spring break tournaments in Florida when the Tigers hit the Plantation Inn Golf Course links Friday and Saturday.
Earlier in the week, the Tigers finished fourth in a strong 14-team field at the Waterlefe Golf and River Club south of Tampa, Fla., before heading just up the Gulf coast to Crystal River.
It will be a homecoming of sorts for first-year head coach Amy Bond, a native of nearby Ocala, Fla. and a Florida State alumnus.
The tournament will feature 18 holes each on Friday and Saturday and measures 6,161 yards from the white tees. Princeton is one of eight colleges, plus a team of Swedish amateurs, that will compete. Those schools include Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee, Alabama-Birmingham, Illinois, Rutgers, Ivy foe Yale and the host Bearcats of Cincinnati.
It is the next-to-last tournament for Princeton before the Ivy League Championship, which will take place April 21-22 at Great Gorge Country Club in McAfee, N.J.
