Tigers Fall to No. 50 Long Beach State, 6-1, on Final Match of Spring Trip

Princeton got a win at No. 2 singles from Long Beach native Ivana King, but Long Beach State won each of the other five singles matches and took the doubles point on the way to a 6-1 victory over the Tigers Thursday afternoon at the 49er Campus Courts.
The No. 64 Tigers (7-5) were playing their third ranked team in four matches on a Spring Break trip to California. No. 50 Long Beach State won its third straight match over a nationally-ranked opponent.
King, who went to Long Beach Polytechnic High School, defeated Katy Williams in three sets. Scores were 7-6 (5), 3-6 and 6-3.
Long Beach won the other five singles matches in straight sets.
The 49ers won all three doubles matches to take the doubles point. At No. 2 doubles, Melissa Saiontz and Darcy Robertson played a tight match with Hannah Grady and Jessica Weeks before falling by a 8-6 score.
Princeton returns home to face Temple next Wednesday.
