March 25, 2007 | Women's Fencing
MADISON, N.J. -- Princeton's four women's fencers completed their competition Sunday at the NCAA championships at Drew University. Epeeists Erin McGarry and Jasjit Bhinder and foilists Sara Jew-Lim and Jocelyn Svengsouk fenced on the national stage for the Orange and Black.
A senior and two-time All-America, McGarry placed 13th in her last collegiate meet, winning 11 of 23 bouts but falling short by five wins of placing in the four-person bracket to determine the national champion. Bhinder placed 21st, winning seven bouts.
Svengsouk placed 12th in her rookie campaign, winning 11 bouts in a weapon where the cutoff was 18 wins. Jew-Lim also won 11 bouts, finishing 15th.
Combined with the men's results from Thursday and Friday, Princeton's six-weapon placement was 10th of 28 schools, winning 64 total bouts. Penn State won the meet with 194 individual wins, beating out 179 wins by St. John's.
