Women's Golf Posts Solid Opening Round at Pinehurst

PINEHURST, N.C. -- The Princeton women's golf team stands in seventh place halfway through the 17-team, 36-hole Pinehurst Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston in Pinehurst, N.C.
Princeton's top four scorers turned in cards adding up to 317 in a crowded top half of the field. East Carolina leads at +20, while the College of Charleston is at +22, North Carolina State is at +24, Campbell is at +25 and Coastal Carolina and Richmond are tied at +28, rounding out the teams ahead of Princeton at +29.
The Tigers are the only Ivy team in the field and one of only two northeastern schools among the 17. Penn State, in 15th place, is the other.
Individually, senior Sharla Cloutier fired a +4 76, tying her for fourth, while sophomore Marlowe Boukis and freshman Michelle Grilli are at +8 and tied for 33rd. Junior Annika Welander is tied for 49th at +9, while sophomore Susannah Aboff is tied for 57th at +11.
The tournament will conclude with 18 holes Tuesday.
