Women's Soccer to Take On Four Teams in Spring Contests
April 11, 2007 | Women's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. -- St. John's, Columbia, Bucknell and La Salle are on the Princeton women's soccer team's spring docket over the next two weekends for games at St. John's and near Lancaster, Pa.
The Tigers will head to Queens, N.Y. for a pair of games against host St. John's at 11:30 a.m. and against Ivy foe Columbia at 1 p.m. Saturday. The latter game will feature two of the last three Ivy League champions, following Princeton's league title in 2004 and Columbia's last year.
The following weekend, Princeton will travel to East Petersburg, Pa., just outside of Lancaster, for the Toyota College Classic East. The tournament, to be played Sunday, April 22, will feature eight colleges from the northeast plus a host of area club teams. Princeton will play Bucknell at 9 a.m. with La Salle following at 1 p.m.
Princeton will have its busy Canadian National Team midfielder, Diana Matheson, for the two weekends. Matheson had been participating in training sessions and international qualifying matches for Team Canada as it heads toward the 2007 World Cup later this year.
The Tigers ended their 2006 fall campaign with a four-game winning streak to clinch its 10th straight winning season.
