Women's Tennis Wins at Harvard, 6-1
April 14, 2007 | Women's Tennis
The Princeton women's tennis team completed a sweep of its trip to New England Saturday with a 6-1 victory against Harvard at the Murr Center. The Tigers improved to 11-7 overall and 3-2 in Ivy League play with the victory.
The Tigers came back from losing the doubles point to win every singles match, including three in straight sets.
After the Tigers got a point at No. 6 due to Harvard default, Princeton took the lead in the match when Blakely Ashley didn't lose a game in a win over Julia Forgie at No. 4. Darcy Robertson then defeated Elizabeth Brook at No. 3, and Princeton then clinched the match when Sarah Huah finished off Vilsa Curton, 6-2 and 6-1, at No. 5 singles.
Princeton then won third-set 10-point tiebreaks at Nos. 1 and 2 singles after splitting the first two sets in each match. The Tigers' usual 1-2 players switched spots on Saturday, with Ivana King playing at No. 1 and Melissa Saiontz moving to the No. 2 spot.
The Tigers will play at Columbia on Friday before hosting Cornell to end the regular season on Sunday afternoon.
