Princeton Assistant Coach Anundsen To Play In U.S. Open Women's Doubles
August 29, 2007 | Women's Tennis
Princeton women's tennis assistant coach Sara Anundsen, joined by former North Carolina teammate Jenna Long, will play in the main doubles draw of the US Open beginning Thursday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Anundsen and Long, the 2007 NCAA doubles champions while playing for the Tarheels, received a USTA wildcard entry into the main draw. They will play the Polish team of Kladuia Jans and Alicja Rosolska in the first round on Thursday.
The winner of that match will play the winner of another first-round match between the 13th-seeded team of Meghann Shaughnessy and Corina Morariu of the U.S. and the team of Martina Muller of Germany and Gabriela Navratilova of the Czech Republic.
Princeton also has another connection in the doubles draw in Vania King, the sister of current Tiger senior Ivana King. King, who fell to Shaughnessy in the first round of the singles draw, joins France's Emilie Loit as the No. 15 seed in the U.S. Open doubles draw.
