Women's Golf to Host Princeton Invitational Saturday and Sunday

PRINCETON -- The Princeton women's golf team will open its fall season at home this weekend when it hosts the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club Saturday and Sunday. Fourteen teams, including all six other Ivy programs, are scheduled to join the Tigers for the weekend.
Princeton finished second at last year's Ivy League Championship, the last time the Tigers were on the links. Three Princeton golfers earned All-Ivy League honors and two return in senior Annika Welander and junior Susannah Aboff. Sophomore Michelle Grilli, who finished ninth overall at the league meet, returns, as does Princeton's fifth finisher, junior Marlowe Boukis. The Tigers will welcome three freshmen to the program in Rachel Blum, Maggie Boberg and Kate Scarpetta. All seven are scheduled to compete at the Princeton Invite, whether among Princeton's fivesome or as individuals.
The tournament is the 11th annual with Princeton finishing first seven times, including the last four, and second the other three tournaments.
The players will be aiming from a combination of Springdale's blue and white tees, which adds up to approximately 6,200 yards. Welander is the tournament's defending champion after finishing at +2 last year, while Princeton won the team title at +18 by 18 shots over Harvard.
Eleven of the 13 teams who competed last year return for the 2007 tournament, with newcomers Georgetown, Southwestern (TX), Columbia and Yale joining Albany, Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard, Lehigh, Penn, Sacred Heart, Siena, St. John's, Wagner and host Princeton at the event.
Tee times for Sunday will depend on Saturday's finish, with teams teeing off in inverse order of their Saturday standing. First-day tee-times are as follows:

8-8:36 a.m.: Wagner, Siena, Southwestern
8:45-9:21 a.m.: St. John's, Georgetown, Brown
9:30-10:06 a.m.: Harvard, Yale, Princeton
Hole 10:
8-8:27 a.m.: Individuals
8:36-9:12 a.m.: Penn, Lehigh, Albany
9:21-9:57 a.m.: Columbia, Dartmouth, Sacred Heart
