Men's Soccer Continues Homestand With FDU Sunday Night
September 29, 2007 | Men's Soccer
The Princeton men's soccer team returns to Powers Field less than 72 hours after its last appearance, and the Tigers will hope for the same kind of effort against FDU Sunday night (6 p.m.) as they had in a scoreless tie against Monmouth Thursday night.
The Tigers (0-6-1) outshot the Hawks 18-8, including 6-2 in overtime and 7-2 in the first half, but a last great attempt from sophomore Ben Harms was saved and Princeton settled for the scoreless tie against the No. 4 team in the North Atlantic Region. The shutout was Princeton's first since Sept. 30, 2006.
Princeton and FDU (2-4-1) are playing for the 13th straight year in the regular season. The Tigers are 7-3-2 in the previous 12 meetings with the Knights, though FDU has won three of the last four meetings, including a 3-0 win in Teaneck, N.J., a year ago.
Princeton has outshot its last two opponents by a combined total of 37-17.
Samson Malijani has scored five of FDU's six goals this season. He also had a goal in last season's win over Princeton.
The Tigers will conclude a three-game homestand Wednesday night against Adelphi (7:30 p.m.). Princeton begins its 2007 Ivy League season next Saturday night at Brown.
