2007-08 Men's Hockey Schedule Announced
September 06, 2007 | Men's Ice Hockey
The 2007-08 Princeton men's hockey schedule was recently announced by Princeton head coach Guy Gadowsky. The schedule features 22 ECAC Hockey games and seven non-conference games, plus a pair of exhibition contests.
In addition to its 22-game league schedule, the Tigers will play seven non-league games, with two coming against league foes Yale and Quinnipiac. Princeton will also travel to Minnesota State, Nebraska-Omaha and Robert Morris for single games, while playing host to a two-game series against Notre Dame, the top-ranked team in the final national regular season poll of last season, in early December.
Princeton's schedule will feature 14 home dates, all beginning with an exhibition game against the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres on Oct. 20. Princeton kicks off the regular season the next weekend at the Ivy Showcase Tournament at Yale with a non-conference game against the Bulldogs and an exhibition match against the Ontario Institute of Technology.
Princeton opens the ECAC Hockey season the following weekend at Cornell and Colgate, before opening its home regular season schedule on Nov. 9 and 10 against St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The Clarkson game on Saturday, which coincides with Princeton football game against Yale, will be the first of two home afternoon games for the Tigers. Immediately following the completion of the Clarkson/Princeton game, there will be a ceremony to dedicate the lobbies at the north end of Hobey Baker Rink, which were renovated this summer to include new trophy cases, photo montages and Princeton hockey memorabilia.
The Tigers will then face Quinnipiac three times in an eight-day span, with the first game not counting towards the league standings. Princeton then plays four straight games at home, hosting Rensselaer and Union and Notre Dame twice, the first two weekends in December. Notre Dame was an NCAA tournament team last season and was the nation's top-ranked team entering the NCAA tournament.
Princeton returns from the holiday break on the road with games at Minnesota State and Nebraska-Omaha separated by a day. Once back on campus the Tigers host another matinee game when Dartmouth visits Baker Rink at 4 p.m on Friday, Jan. 4. That game, which will air live on ESPNU, will also mark one of three Tiger hockey games currently slated for live television. In addition, both of Princeton's game at Quinnipiac will be on NESN. Both channels are available nationally on DirecTV, as well as select cable operators.
Princeton completes intersession with games against Harvard, Yale and Brown, before the exam break. Once back, Princeton visits Robert Morris on a Tuesday before the final five-week slate of league games leading up the playoffs. Princeton closes its home schedule on Feb. 23 against Colgate, and wraps the regular season one week later at St. Lawrence.
