Tigers Defeat Temple, 5-2, In Women's Tennis

Princeton earned a 5-2 women's tennis victory over Temple Wednesday evening at Jadwin Gym, with both No. 1 player Melissa Saiontz and No. 3 player Blakely Ashley coming back from first-set deficits to win in straight sets and help the Tigers clinch the match.
Saiontz was down 3-0 in the first set to Elyse Steiner before winning the next six games and take the set, then trailed 5-6 in the second set before winning in a tiebreak without losing a point.
At No. 3, Ashley trailed 2-5 in the first set before winning the next 11 games against Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova in a 7-5, 6-0 victory.
The Tigers, who had defeated NJIT earlier in the day, clinched the doubles point with big wins at Nos. 1 and 2. Both King and Saiontz at No. 1 and Ashley and Sarah Huah at No. 2 won by 8-2 scores.
Both King and freshman Sarah Hoffman had impressive straight-set victories in singles as well. King beat Dina Senkina 6-1 and 6-4 at No. 2 and Hoffman lost just four games in a win over Josephine Bergman at No. 5.
The Tigers (2-0) host St. John's in Jadwin Gym Friday morning.
