October 01, 2008 | Men's Soccer
BALTIMORE, Md. (10/1/08) ? Loyola University's Eddie Dines scored in the 77th minute to give the No. 16-ranked Greyhounds a 1-0 win over Princeton University in men's soccer on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Sophomore Steven Bantock played the ball ahead to junior Jamie Darvill, who then crossed the ball to Dines six yards out. Dines headed the ball in on the right side to keep his team undefeated.
Shots were even in the game at eight apiece, but it was the Tigers that had more opportunities to put the ball away. The Greyhounds only had one shot on goal in the second half, but it turned into the game-winning goal.
Loyola goalkeeper Milos Kocic stopped seven shots, while Princeton's Joe Walter made two saves.
The Tigers had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Princeton (2-6) begins Ivy League play on Saturday, Oct. 4, when it hosts Dartmouth at 4 p.m. At halftime, Princeton will hold a dedication ceremony, naming the soccer facility Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
