October 02, 2008 | Women's Soccer
PRINCETON ? So far, so good for the Princeton women's soccer team on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium. But Saturday, the Ivy League season comes to the Tigers' new home.
Princeton (5-1-1) vs. Dartmouth (4-3-1)
Sat., Oct. 4 at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium, 1 p.m.
Coaches: Princeton ? Julie Shackford (14th season/William & Mary '88)
Dartmouth ? Angie Hind (Fourth season/Strathclyde '98)
All-Time Series: Tied 13-13-1
The Tigers will look to keep their home record perfect and their five-game unbeaten streak going when Dartmouth visits to open the home Ivy season. Princeton's last two games included 1-0 wins at Yale and at home over Fairfield, a team ranked second in the NSCAA northeast regional poll.
Dedication: The dedication of Roberts Stadium will take place Saturday at halftime of the men's game to begin at 4 p.m.
Still your home for dramatic soccer: The Tigers and their fans held on through another exciting game Tuesday night at Roberts Stadium as the Tigers moved to 3-0 at their new home. All three games have been decided in the final 10 minutes and all have been one-goal games.
Good start: Princeton will look to start 2-0 in the Ivy League for the second straight season.
Peteraf paying off: Senior Sarah Peteraf has scored a key goal in all three games so far at Roberts Stadium. All three goals have come in the last 20 minutes of those games.
Series with the Big Green: Princeton and Dartmouth are all square in the all-time series at 13-13-1 after Princeton's 2-1 win last season evened the series again. The Tigers have won seven of the last nine meetings overall, but will be looking for their first home win over the Big Green since 2004.
Shackford in Ivy home openers: Princeton is 10-3 in their first Ivy League home game of each season since Julie Shackford became the head coach in 1995.
Around the Ivy: Princeton, Columbia, Brown and Penn share the league lead after the first weekend. That tie will drop to no more than three teams after Columbia and Brown get together Saturday night, while Yale will visit Harvard and Penn will travel to Cornell.
