October 30, 2008 | Women's Soccer
PRINCETON -- Senior Sarah Peteraf has been named to the CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 team along with 11 counterparts from the Mid-Atlantic region.
Peteraf, a politics major, has scored 11 goals through the team's 14 games so far and has been a big part of keeping the Tigers in contention for an Ivy League title. Of the team's 10 game-winning goals, Peteraf has seven, the most in the Ivy League. She also became the first Tiger since Emily Behncke '06 in 2005 to score a double-digit number of goals.
The academic honor is the first for a Princeton women's soccer player since 2005, when Maija Garnaas '06 and Romy Trigg-Smith '06 were also named to the second team.
District 2 includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. In addition to the 12 honored on the second team, 13 players from the district were recognized on the first team. Consideration required at least sophomore standing and a grade-point average of 3.30.
