Kalemba Stops 37 as Men's Hockey Blanks Quinnipiac 2-0

HAMDEN, Conn. -- Junior goaltender Zane Kalemba made 38 saves to lead the 12th-ranked Princeton men's hockey team to a 2-0 win at Quinnipiac on Tuesday night at the TD Banknorth Center.
Following a scoreless opening period in which the Tigers were outshot 14-11, Princeton went ahead just 3:10 into the second period when sophomore Matt Godlewski scored his first goal of the season on a blast from the point through a screen. Sophomore Sam Sabky got an assist on the goal as we worked the puck to Godlewski, who now has two career goals, both of which have come in wins at Quinnipiac.
Princeton added a second goal late in the second period when junior Dan Bartlett scored off the rush at 17:11. Sabky knocked the puck to him and Bartlett went into the Bobcat zone one-on-one. He beat the defender and then chipped the puck over Quinnipiac goaltender Nick Pisellini into the net for his first goal of the season. Sabky's assist gave him two for the night and he has a pair of two-assist games in four games played this season.
From there, the show belonged to Kalemba who made 17 of his 38 saves in the second period. Sixteen of those 17 came on the power play as the junior earned the sixth shutout of his collegiate career.
Princeton is now 3-1-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the ECAC. The Tigers return to action on Friday at Rensselaer.
