November 12, 2008 | Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
ST. LOUIS -- Five Tigers competed at the second North American Cup event of the season Nov. 7-10 in St. Louis, Mo., and all posted high finishes in their weapons.
Sophomore Graham Wicas won the junior epee competition of 193 entrants, while freshman Cooper Gegan placed ninth in the weapon. Sophomore John Stogin finished 19th of 182 in the sabre.
On the women's side, rookies Susannah Scanlan (fifth of 125, epee) and Lucile Jarry (seventh of 143, foil) both had strong finishes in the event, which allows fencers to compile points toward representing the U.S. at the Junior World Championships next year. The next such event, the third of six in the North American Cup series, will take place Dec. 12-14 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
