This Week's Storylines
On the Road
Princeton plays the fourth and fifth of five consecutive games away from home this weekend at St. Lawrence. Princeton is 3-0 in the stretch and returns home on Wednesday night against Quinnipiac.
Last Time Out
Princeton picked up its first weekend sweep of the season on the road at Rensselaer and Union, winning each game by a 4-1 score. Princeton got goals from seven scorers and points from 14 of its 18 skaters over the weekend.
Sweeps
Princeton's sweep of Rensselaer and Union was its first sweep of the season and its first since defeating Colgate and Cornell last February. Princeton's last road sweep was at Yale and Brown last January and the Tigers last swept at RPI and Union in February of 2000.
Fast Start
Princeton's 5-1 start is its best in 10 years. The 1998-99 team went 7-1-1 in its first nine games and was 4-1-1 after six games.
In the Polls
Princeton's three wins last week vaulted the Tigers to eighth in both national polls. The Tigers have been ranked each week this year. The only other time Princeton has been ranked in the Top 10 came during the 1998-99 season. Princeton's highest-ever ranking is sixth, which happened on Feb. 1, 1999.
Stingy Defense
Princeton has allowed five goals in six games this season and has not allowed more than a goal in any one of those contests. That gives Princeton the nation's second best defense, just behind league rival Cornell, which has surrendered three goals in four games.
Good Discipline
The Tigers are the least penalized team in the nation, averaging 9.3 penalty minutes per game. Princeton is the only team in single digits.
Strong PK
After allowing a goal to Brown on the first penalty Princeton took this season, the Tigers have now killed off each of the 23 power plays since. Princeton's 95.8 percentage ranks just behind Miami and is second in the nation. Princeton is a perfect 22-22 on the kill in league play and has scored two shorthanded goals.
Upcoming Opponents
Princeton vs. St. Lawrence
St. Lawrence leads the all-time series with Princeton 57-17-7 and is 30-6-2 in the series at home. St. Lawrence has won the last two meetings and six of the last eight games in the series. Princeton is winless in its last nine games (0-8-1) at Appleton Arena, last winning in February of 2001.
Recent History
St. Lawrence swept Princeton a season ago, winning 4-3 in Princeton in November and 3-2 in Canton in March. Charlie Giffin's shorthanded goal gave St. Lawrence the first win, while the Saints rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win the second game.
Scouting the Saints
St. Lawrence is 4-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the ECAC. The Saints are winless in their last three games (0-2-1), all league contests. St. Lawrence tied Brown, and dropped one goal games at Dartmouth and Harvard.
Princeton vs. Clarkson
Clarkson leads the all-time series with Princeton 69-23-5 and is 34-3 in games played in Potsdam. Clarkson swept the season series a year ago, but Princeton swept it the year before.
Recent History
Clarkson took both games from Princeton a season ago, winning 6-2 in Princeton in November and 4-3 late in the season in Potsdam. The second game was a battle of the league's first and second place teams and went back-and-forth as Clarkson rallied to score twice in the third period to overcome a deficit and win by a goal.
Scouting the Golden Knights
Clarkson is 2-4-2 overall and 1-3-0 in the ECAC. The Saints started strong, tying then top-ranked Colorado College twice, but are just 1-3 since with losses to Yale, Harvard and Dartmouth. Clarkson lost both games last weekend 5-1.
Non-League Schedule
Princeton is 1-0 in non-league play although the win came over Brown, a league opponent. The Tigers have a similar game scheduled against Quinnipiac on Dec. 3. Princeton could also face Rensselaer in non-league play in their tournament in November. Princeton will face Northeastern, Nebraska-Omaha, Minnesota State and Robert Morris as well.
Team Notes
Against Ranked Teams
Princeton is 0-1 against ranked teams with its loss to Cornell. The Tigers next ranked opponent will be No. 5/6 Northeastern, which it will face on Nov. 28 at the RPI Tournament.
Trending Up
Princeton has increased upon its win total in each of the past five seasons. After a three-win season in 2002-03, the Tigers won five games in 2003-04, eight games in 2004-05, 10 games in 2005-06, 15 games in 2006-07 and 21 games a season ago.
Home and Away and Neutral
Princeton was 9-7 in games played at Hobey Baker Rink and 10-6 on the road this season. Princeton was once 1-6 at home before finishing its home schedule with an 8-1 stretch. Princeton was 2-1 at neutral sites. Princeton is 1-1 at home and 4-0 away from Baker Rink this season.
Balanced Effort
Princeton did not have one player with multiple points in either win last weekend. The Princeton offense has been balanced thus far this season as the team's 42 points have been spread among 17 different skaters. Only one Tiger who has played in more than two games does not yet have a point this year.
Offense From the Back
Princeton had four defensemen with double-digit point totals last season. Princeton last accomplished that in the 1994-95 season. Four Princeton defensemen have points this year.
Overtime
Princeton's trip to overtime against Colgate was its first trip to an extra session in the last 40 games dating back to the 2006-07 season. Princeton's last overtime game was on March 3, 2007, a 2-1 win over Brown at home in the ECAC first-round playoffs.
Put the Puck on the Net
Princeton is averaging 40.2 shots on goal per game. Last weekend the
Tigers fired 98 combined shots on the Rensselaer and Union goals.
On the Horizon
Princeton plays it first home game in more than two weeks next Wednesday when it hosts Quinnipiac the night before Thanksgiving. Princeton returns to action two days later against Northeastern at the RPI Tournament.

Leading Career Scorers
Seniors Brett Wilson and Lee Jubinville are currently tied among active Tigers for career points. Each has 81 points for their career. Jubinville has three points this season, including an assist at Rensselaer, while Wilson has two, the last being a goal against Colgate.
Milestone Game
Brett Wilson will make his 100th appearance in the Orange and Black on Friday night. Lee Jubinville played in his 100th game last Tuesday at Quinnipiac and classmate Brandan Kushniruk is five games away from the milestone.
One or Nothing
Junior goaltender Zane Kalemba, the Most Outstanding Player at last year's ECAC Tournament, has allowed a single goal or less in each of his six starts this season. Kalemba has a 0.83 goals-against average and a .965 save percentage. Tuesday's shutout at Quinnipiac was the sixth of his collegiate career.
First Goal
Sophomore Sam Sabky scored his first collegiate goal in Saturday's win at Union. Sabky now leads the Tigers with a goal and four assists for five points after not appearing in a game as a freshman.
Game Winners
Junior Mark Magnowski's three goals lead the team in scoring. Two of his three scores this year are game-winning goals and he now has seven game winners in his career.

Sophomores Kevin Lohry and Matt Arhontas each picked up shorthanded goals over the weekend.
Three-Game Scoring Streak
Junior Dan Bartlett is the only Tiger this season to have a scoring streak of more than two games. He now has points in his last three contests, scoring at Quinnipiac, and notching assists at both Rensselaer and Union.
Back-to-Back
In addition to Bartlett, four other Tigers had points in each game last weekend. Matt Arhontas, Kevin Lohry, junior Tyler Beachell and sophomore Taylor Fedun also had points in both games. Each of the four scored in one game and had an assist in the other.
