Kushniruk Named ECAC Player of the Week

After scoring the game-winning goal in back-to-back games, Princeton senior forward Brandan Kushniruk was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week as Princeton ran its win streak to seven games and is now 7-1.
The Princeton captain's first goal of the season came on Friday evening when he put Princeton ahead in the third period. The goal came less than a minute after St. Lawrence tied the score at 1-1. The following night, Kushniruk's goal in the second period gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead and stood up to be the deciding goal in a 4-2 win at Clarkson.
Kushniruk is Princeton's second Player of the Week this season, joining junior Mark Magnowski who was honored on Nov. 3. It is the first Player of the Week honor for Kushniruk, who does have a Rookie of the Week honor from his freshman season of 2005-06.
Kushniruk and the Tigers climbed one spot to the No. 7 ranking in both national polls following last weekend's sweep. The Tigers are now 7-1-0 overall and 6-1-0 in league play. The Tigers host Quinnipiac on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
