This Week's Storylines
Back at Baker
Princeton returns to Hobey Baker Rink to host Quinnipiac in a league game. After playing two of its first three games at home, the Tigers have been on the road for five straight games.
Last Time Out
Princeton swept St. Lawrence and Clarkson to run its win streak to six games and improve to 7-1-0 overall and 6-1-0 in ECAC Hockey action. Princeton never trailed in either game, winning 2-1 at St. Lawrence and 4-2 at Clarkson.
Sweeps
Princeton's sweep of St. Lawrence and Clarkson was its second weekend sweep in a row following a sweep of Rensselaer and Union a week earlier. It marked the first time that Princeton has swept consecutive league series on the road since the league adopted the travel partner system in the 1984-85 season.
Historical Context
Princeton swept St. Lawrence and Clarkson in North Country for the first time in 10 years dating back to November of 1998. Princeton's win at St. Lawrence was its first in nine tries in Canton.Princeton won at Clarkson for just the fourth time in 37 tries, but Princeton has won there in two of the last three years.
Fast Start
Princeton's 7-1 start is its best in 10 years. The 1998-99 team went 7-1-1 in its first nine games and was 6-1-1 after eight games.
Win Streak
Princeton enters tonight's game winners of its last six contests, which matches a similar six-game streak last season. Princeton's all-time longest win streak is 11 games which happened in the early 1900s. The Tigers last won seven in a row in the 1931-32 season as part of a 10-game win streak.
On the Road
The last five games of Princeton's win streak have all come on the road. Princeton's longest unbeaten streak away from home came in the 1998-99 season when the Tigers won the first eight road games of the season.
In the Polls
Princeton's two wins last weekend lifted the Tigers to seventh in both national polls. The Tigers have been ranked each week this year. The only other season in which Princeton has been ranked in the Top 10 was in 1998-99. Princeton's highest-ever ranking is sixth, which happened on Feb. 1, 1999.
Stingy Defense
Princeton has allowed eight goals in eight games this season and has only allowed more than goal in a game on one occasion. That gives Princeton the nation's second best defense, just behind league rival Cornell, which has surrendered five goals in six games.
Disciplined
The Tigers are the least penalized team in the nation, averaging 8.2 minutes of penalties per game. Princeton and Army are the only two teams in single digits.
27 Kills
After allowing a goal to Brown on the first penalty Princeton took this season, the Tigers have killed off each of the 27 power plays against since, including four last weekend at St. Lawrence and Clarkson. Princeton's 96.4 percentage ranks just behind Cornell and is second in the nation. Princeton is a perfect 26-26 on the kill in league play and has two shorthanded goals.
